Guest guest
Hi Debs, I cannot believe what has been going on in your life these past few weeks! And yet you still are able to " play " in your garden! But, if you are like me, the garden is more therapy than work. Although I do hope you take it easy for a while until things get better. I am continuously amazed and disturbed at your treatment from the unsympathetic nurses. It all goes back to my pet peeve with this disease: lack of respect - for whatever reasons. If a person coming into the ER complaining of chest pain, he wouldn't be given that kind of attitude. As far as your question: I think you had it right the first time. Taking enzymes should increase a persons weight, not decrease it. Theoretically, weight will increase because the enzymes are able to digest the food so it can be absorbed. That way it prevents malnutrution and malabsorption problems. My understanding is that enzymes are very effective in this aspect of treating pancreas problems. They are less effective if they are taken to reduce pain. Some doctors prescribe them with the hope that by reducing the need for enzymes from the pancreas that it will not work so hard and therefore not be as painful. The literature suggests that this doesn't work very well or for all types of CP pain. As far as your garden is concerned....I had an idea this weekend while I was thinking of you (I was working in my garden). I was wondering if you would be interested in starting a blog for your garden. I want to do that - kinda like an on-line journal of how my garden is taking shape. I do not know anything about blogs but I figure I can look up how to start one and keep it going. I thought that seeing that we have opposite seasons that reading about your garden in my winter and you reading about my garden in your winter would make it seem as if it is year round summer! I am thinking that it could be a quick synopsis of what we did that day in the garden...or what we observed (daffodils blooming, birds returning, planted peas - that type of thing) If you are interested let me know and I can investigate how we can do this. I am not sure if it costs money but if so, I would be willing to foot the bill for both of us for the first year to see if it is something that we like to do I am kinda excited about the idea and hope that once you feel better, you may want to do this. laurie
