My normal, pre-CP, healthy weight was always around 126-130 lbs. When I was first diagnosed in April '01 with CP after having slowly lost weight during the two years prior to diagnosis, I weighed 114 lbs. In June of '01 I started on Ultrase MT-20 enzymes (2), and in the following year I got up to 132 lbs. In January of '03 I went from 132 lbs. down to 98 lbs. by the first week of March, losing 34 lbs. in two months!! I actually wore a size 0, and they were loose. In October of '03 I switched to Viokase-16 enzymes, taking 5-6 with each meal. My weight then was 112, and it took me 18 months to get back up to my current weight, which now is 128 lbs, or a 30 lb. gain from the lowest to current. I eat a normal, semi-low fat diet, probably consuming approx. 40-50 grams of fat daily. I don't have to eat low fat, but have grown accustomed to it and don't see a need to change. It's about a 20-30 gram increase from what I ate when my chronic pancreatitis was at it's peak. During the months when I was working so hard to gain weight, I also took 2 fish oil capsules each day and used whey protein powder in my food. I don't do the fish oil tablets or protein powder anymore because I'm a size 4, and don't want to go any higher and have to buy any more new clothes!! My closet is already too full with old clothes in three different smaller sizes, but I don't dare jinx it by taking them to Goodwill. With the instability of this disease, I know that as soon as I cleared those shelves, my panc. would do it's thing and I'd suddenly need all those smaller sizes again, so I keep the old wardrobe for security reasons.
