Guest guest
HI today I had a myfascial nevr block in the shoulder blades which did not work. My pain hase been getting worse for the last few months. My pain doc ha snow said I may have phantom limb pain, but i have not lost a limb it is deep inside my chest cavity after abdomincal laprascopic gall bladder surgery. He is not convinced that the intercostal blcoks worked. I had my splanchnic nerves sevred 5 years ago and they tested those previously so he feels its not the pancreas. He has now scheuled more blcoks I am not sure what? yet? he has said that I should start swimming , decrease my meds....which I have but I am suffering. The only relief i get is when I take haliperidol to knock myself out. I sit at a 6 to 7 all day adn amd exhausted. I have been in the ER as recentky as Sunday and Monday for Ketamine IV which is the only thing that helps. I have Iv ketamine I drink but it is not prescribed yet as I need execptional circumstances to get it which he has applied for so I am being given ad lib supplies of which I have enough at my current rate to last 2 days. I find this distressing, but I will have no where else to go but back to the ER if I run out. It is worse when I eat , lie down, or move....or even sit...I dont know what triggers it and I have no control over it since my head injury which they are saying now was significant, I havent got the full report yet, but I have been certified unfit to work at the moment. My pain doc has ssuggested a 3 week pain course up north to go on, and I have agreed when it comes up but i am living hand to mouth with th epain I am struggling, I saw also my pain psych today and she said what is your quality of life in your good moments I said I dotn have any, the only relie fi have is when I am knocked out.I cant sleep I am exhausted from the pain, I have severe conbstipation etc and the sid eeffects of the oral meds I cant live with She asked me what if they dont find it or cant treat it. I said that woudl leave no hope and I couldnt live like that. My pain doc is worried that in my present state a pain pump or SCS will not work.... he said do this course get stronge rthen we have a better chance. I will do the course but I dont even know how I am going to get through th enext few days..... My pain doc has written that I am suffering my worst pain in my file...there are now notes there so if I go to the ER they know what to do. But I dont have enoough meds to even last the weekend. I hate how th enurses treat me as my pain has no name no box to put me in!! I dont know what to do... I am struggling I really am.... I feel like I need a break from this pain for longer then a few hours as I am so exhausted......should I tell him that as I really cant face teh pain anymore or the thought of it continuing debs
Guest guest
Debs honey, I hate to say this and I know you hate to hear it but if you are having that much pain and not nearly enough meds to give you relief maybe you should be admitted back into the hospital. I know, I know, you dont want to. But good Lord Debs you are not going to get better if you are sitting at home in agony. Its not good for your body or your soul. I am sorry you are in such pain and I am sorry to tell you this as well. I wish there was something Icould do to help you. Just know that you are in my thoughts and if warm wishes could take away your pain you would never have pain again.
Guest guest
Oh Debs!! I'm so so very sorry to read this...but it just resounds hugely for me as this is about the state that I'm in lately. The only thing that the celiac block did for me at ALL was to take away that feeling that I needed to go to the ER at any given moment (which I didn't anyway but that's story for another time!) I just wanted to let you know that you are definitly alone here and that I sometimes feel that I have no life other than one that revolves around what pain level I'm in...and it absolutely RULES my family's lives as well and I hate that even more!! Yesterday, I got to feeling the teensiest bit better so I was able to take a shower after not having one IN FIVE DAYS!!! Too weak and sick to even think about getting in there...just played it as best as I could with deoderant and face washing/teeth brushing. There were even two days that I wasn't even able to do that much so believe me I know where you're coming from. The only problem is is that once I got in the shower I noted that it could use a bit of a scrubbing so I got my scrub brush and cleaning foam spray out and very carefully (!) did my best to get it clean...now I don't know for sure that that is what is causing todays problems but I'm sure it's contributed to it. Although there was also an alternating bout (all in one " session " as it were) with constipation causing such extreme pain as it twisted and turned it's way down thru my intestines that I nearly wanted to scream and then diarrhea to top it all off with. And as I've said before, the bowel movements ALWAYS, cause problems with me. I too tried getting a call into not only the GI that never called me back but also come to think of it I called the pain doc and they never called me back either. I'll have to call his office once again on Tuesday. Again, I'm so so sorry to hear about your pain and I know just what you're going thru kiddo....the tiredness, EVERYTHING. Just wanted you to know that I'm thinking of you and praying for you. Please call your pain doc and explain that you can't go on like this. I'm going to do just that on Tuesday. It's just not fair to have to suffer like this. Unfortunately, mine goes under the assertion (and there is definitely truth to it) that if he takes my pain meds up that my body will just become accustomed to that dose and on and on and on....and then there won't be anything left to give me especially if things get really BAD. It's just that things are bad enough and I know of others that are on more than what I'm on as to the dosage of their daily pain meds. Please let us know how you're doing ok? Take Care

Guest guest
Sorry!! Just re-read this and second paragraph I meant to say you are NOT alone here. Guess you would have figured that out but I just wanted to say it here so that there wouldn't be any misunderstanding.....sorry!! > > Oh Debs!! Guest guest
I can really relate to not having the energy to take a shower let alone do the laundry. I usually take extra pain meds just in case. Then I hope and pray that the pain does not get too bad. Then the next couple of days all I can do to cope is lay around. Guest guest
Jerry, Walt, and others, I too have sometimes been so bad I can't take a shower. Because of my back injury in 2004 I've had to have a chair in my tub to sit down in while I shower because I just can't stand long enough to finish the shower. If you ever feel that weak, but want to take a shower anyway, try getting one of those bath seats like I have. It sure helps alot. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@...
