Guest guest
What a Day!!! We celebrated my Typical Son's 2nd Birthday and You can probably fill in the blanks with how the rest of this story will go. Long story really short...My AU daughter who has been SCD for 5wks and made some Wonderful Improvements (writing her name, language explosion) ate a very small piece of GFCF cake. Even though my husband gave her an enzyme Immediately and I followed up with an extra S. Bouillardii.... I'm still " Freakin the Big Freak " as we say. So How long (days) should I look for or expect changes? What kind of changes has anyone seen in similar situations? I think my husband felt bad.... like she was missing out, and I felt worse for letting him give her the cake. I can so handle the crying...I just can't stand the thought of her regressing b/c of cake. But it is harder with the pressure of so many on lookers. Thanks, Christy Maegan AU 5 yr and SCD 5 and half weeks

Some people notice no changes and some other take a long time to get over an infraction. If she doesn't seem to be over it quickly you can go back to the intro or a very basic diet for a few days to help " clean her out " . <<<<I think my husband felt bad.... like she was missing out, and I felt worse for letting him give her the cake. When I would go to bday parties I always tried to bring a legal treat for the kids. Either a legal cupcake or slice of cake. Guest guest
Christy, Sorry you are going through this! We have had many a slip-up since my son went gfcf 2 years ago. It is upsetting, but what we have found is that these slip-ups provide us with the confirmation we need to keep going when the ging gets tough. (ie: negative repercussions = PROOF that our hard work is helping our son!) You will find that you become quite cunning when you have a child on this diet! Just an idea for next time: you may want to have something comparable for your daughter to eat so that she THINKS she is eating the cake. Today, I have the same situation, so I made white cupcakes with whipped cream and strawberries. I am going to take one of my son's SCD legal muffins and put icing made with whipped egg whites, honey, and vanilla on it and the strawberries) so that he THINKS he is getting the same treat everyone else is having. I know that the birthday boy would rather have chocolate, so I am sending in something chocolately to his school party. That is a compromise I both he and I can live with. (If the typical sib. wasn't such a pain about eating himself, we ALL would be eating SCD legal muffins today, but since he truly does not like them, this doesn't seem fair.) Even if you give a more advanced SCD legal food just one time (like the muffins and strawberries), it has to be better than gluten or the heartache of deprivation, you know what I mean? Since they are a more advanced food, the muffins could then be frozen for later so they won't go to waste. Hope it doesn't get too ugly! Sometimes it is just all about survival. Guest guest
For me, a setback is two weeks minimum. Going back to the intro diet for a day or two should help. --- Christy Herrera wrote: > What a Day!!!
