Guest guest
Hi , Anyone who is as crazy about gardening as I am (and Debs) is more than welcome into our project. The more the merrier and I really think it will be an adjunct to the mental and physical healing power of the gardening itself. Like Debs said, it is the one thing that keeps me going, literally I think. " They " talk about all these fancy methods of learning how to deal with pain.....but I think that the most effective sometimes is just going out and doing what you enjoy and are able to do. I think that the two sessions that I had with the pain psych last spring really clarified some things in my mind. And she had lots of practical advice to offer which I found was effective. Overall, I think I had the most enjoyable and productive gardening season since I got sick. Having summer last until two days ago helped too! But now we are definitely in Fall - almost winter. Hard to believe we went to 90s and sunny to 40s and windy, gloomy in one day.......... From what you described about your landscaping, you will fit right in with us! Debs is in New Zealand so she is getting ready to do her spring planting. I am not sure what zone she would be the equivalent of....maybe a 6 or 5? I guess it depends too on the ocean currents? But it will be fun to read how here garden is growing while we are stuck in the winter doldrums. I am hoping to get some time next week to check into blogs....How do get one, how to work it, etc. I hope you and whomever else wishes to participate, will! As far as - you are right, she is pretty sick. I am not sure I should go into any details but the treatment was extremely rough on her and she had to discontinue it (hopefully at some point she can start it up again or get into a clinical trial). She was pretty bummed about it but realized that there is always hope and maybe her body will bounce back enough to fight the virus on its own. She has a great doctor who seems to want to stick it out and is willing to try new things. So, the good news is that by stopping treatment, she can get rid of the bad effects of all the drugs and get a life back. The bad news is that she made it about half way through the treatment and the bugs are back. But there are other options available, once she gets her strength back. I hope that you are doing fine. I know that would encourage you to keep on looking for the right doctor...that you should never give up. That all it takes is the right doctor and the right time and you can be on the right track. You may not get your whole life back, but at least one that is a little easier on you and your family. I will keep you all updated on what I found out about blogs and provide the link once it gets established. I am very, very excited about this!!!! laurie
