Guest guest
The Vitamix is not good for juicing on the SCDiet because it leaves all the pulp in the drink. Smoothies are fine to make in a Vitamix (using SCD legal ingreds.). The smoothie isn’t pureeing long enough to get the drink hot (as to destroy the nutrients). I’d recommend a Vitamix for those who want to grind their own nuts. In seconds I have beautifully ground nuts made from the Costco bags of pecans and almonds. I first simmer almonds in water so I can pop off skins, then warm them in the oven to dry before grinding. I think it’s a fantastic compliment to his SCDiet. _____ From: pecanbread [mailto:pecanbread ] On Behalf Of Rob or Sunseri Sent: Sunday, November 04, 2007 5:50 AM To: pecanbread Subject: Re: VitaMix--OT Yes, all of the " juicers " say to stay away from the vitamix. Guest guest
, I've been wondering how a Vitamix grinds nuts. How fine does it grind them? I have been dehydrating my pecans and grinding them in a food processor or blender. They seem to grind finer after having been dried. Almonds for instance don't grind near as fine as the almond flour you get from lucy's kitchen and the other commercial places. Does the Vitamix come closer to that. It could be an answer to my burning up blender's and grinding troubles. Bonita Re: VitaMix--OT Yes, all of the " juicers " say to stay away from the vitamix. Guest guest
Hi , I bought a Vitamix years ago but returned it because it was so loud. I don't know how fine it grinds nuts, but I was told that it generates too much heat and destroys all the nutrients in the food. Maybe some else on the list has had success with a specific brand of food processor for grinding nuts. I'm interested as I'm thinking about buying one. --- Bonita Todd wrote: > , > > I've been wondering how a Vitamix grinds nuts. How > fine does it grind them? Guest guest
I’ve never gotten the Lucy’s almond flour so I don’t know how to compare. I had my Vitamix before SCD so I didn’t have to go out and buy one. My guess is that mine is more like meal than flour. I’m going to make some almond flour cookies today so I’ll get to see how it does. But so far with muffins and breads it’s great. _____ From: pecanbread [mailto:pecanbread ] On Behalf Of Bonita Todd Sent: Sunday, November 04, 2007 1:09 PM To: pecanbread Subject: Re: VitaMix & grinding nuts , I've been wondering how a Vitamix grinds nuts. I use a Maverick grinder from piercechefmart.com. I have a discontinued model, the #5, with the optional cheese shredder. It does not grind almond a finely as the almond flour from Lucy, but does a reasonable job on pecans. It also has a sausage extruder with it which I use to make snacking sticks, bread sticks and lots more. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
