Guest guest
My son was having BM's about 4-5 times a day half of which were diarrhea or diarrhea like. In other words sometimes liquid and sometimes not quite a liquid but not quite a solid. More yeasty and sticky. Lately his diarrhea and BMs have been a little less frequent but they still don't look normal. Sometimes (pardon the graphics) kind of like a big round ball. Not the little dark balls like with constipation but more a large yellow/brown ball. Is this normal? April
Guest guest
Here is a link that describes normal bms. http://ibdcrohns.about.com/od/dailylife/a/normalbm.htm I don't think I'd worry much about the " big ball " if it's not hard to pass. It sounds like the BMs are starting to improve. mom to -12 SCD 4/23/

What is the frequency of his bowel movements now? The color may be from die off. Guest guest
Sheila, He's been on the diet for about 2 weeks. The color varies from a light yellow-brown to a darker brown. Guest guest
Hi April, It sounds as if his bowels are in transition - and that is usually a good sign that indicates things are improving. When you write that it is a ball now it sounds as if you are saying that it has gone from liquid stool or sticky stool to more formed stool. If the stool becomes watery again or doesn't continue to firm up please let us know. Sheila, SCD Feb. 2001, UC 23yrs, PCOD 22yrs mom of and > He's been on the diet for about 2 weeks. Guest guest
Sheila, When we first started the diet his poop seemed to increase in size and volume. In other words he was going about 4-5 times a day (sometimes more) and it was mostly sticky but sometimes watery (rarely formed). He also seemed to be screaming and tantruming more. Over the last few days he's been going about 3 times a day but sometimes it's still sticky but I haven't seen a watery poop in a while. It seems that even when it's sticky it is somewhat formed. He also seems to be increasing eye contact and he seems more alert. I think we're on the right track. Thanks again for your help, April Sheila Trenholm wrote: Hi April, It sounds as if his bowels are in transition - and that is usually a good sign that indicates things are improving.
