Hi everyone,

I'm new here, it was recommended to me by a friend.

I just had my gall bladder out last week. I was initially told it

was a 12 month wait list, but as I was considered an emergency I

would be bumped ahead to January 06.. but they then got the results

of the tests, and I was bumped ahead to a week after my Dr's visit.

I have to say the hospital was wonderful, my general experience was

wonderful.. as far as nurses and drs go.

I just wish that I had more information on what to expect after the

operation.

I had laporascopic surgery.

I'm interested in what is normal recovery and what isn't?

For me chills, nausea and feeling lousier and feeling lousier again

have been part of the routine.

*I have now found out that it looks like I picked up a nasty virus

as well.. hence feeling worse everyday.

I'm really interested in any comments of people's experiences here.

thankyou.

(Have to go now.. I feel blah and the nausea is back .. I hate

feelign sick)

Hi, I'm sorry that you feel so bad..

I had mine out last thursday and each day I seemed to be feeling

worse. Its only today that I actually feel closer to normal. (or

should I say less worse)

My stomach is still bloated.. but instead of looking 9months pregnant,

I " m down to about 5 months.. adn it seems to have a mind of its own..

it moves.

I did go back to emergency to get checked out, coz I really have not

felt any improvement. (Until today).

They gave me gravol for the nausea (I was worried that the gravol was

going to make me feel sick!.. and nearly refused it! )

But it helped the nausea immensely.. I was also dehydrated and didnt'

realise.. I'd been drinking what I thought was alot.

I was only diagnosed recently with gall bladder problems. I'd suffered

for years though and hadn't done anythign about it, just put up with

the pain. I don't recommend that.

Are you on pain meds?

When was your operation?

When do you go back to the dr?

I'm going back tomorrow.. so should have the all clear.. hopefully..

although Today I did some washing and I ended up sleeping for a couple

of hours from exhaustion. (Normally my house is so clean :( )

into surgery feeling lousy, but don't feel any better yet. Actually,

now that I think about it, my headaches seem to have subsided & I

don't have as much chest pressure & upper back pain. I do feel very

nauseated & week still.

Hi,

I had my surgery last Wednesday. The nausea is worse than ever & I have a new

burning sensation right in the middle upper abdomen right below my ribs. I

thought the upper back pain had subsided but it is nagging at me today. My chest

pressure is better but today has started up again. I am a little dissapointed

but trying to be patient since it has only been a week since surgery. My follow

up is on Friday. My house is a mess right now too. My son who is 21 yrs old is

moving out this weekend & I am starting a new job on Monday. My daughter is

turning 17 tommorrow. There is so much I want to do but don't feel up to

anything.

Where do you live? I live in Vacaville, CA.

i live in Calgary canada..

and tonite my stomach is full of movement.. its weird.

I to have the pain on the right.. when I breathe deep.. I can't work

that one out, but will ask the DR tomorrow.

Everytime I eat though, I get uber bloated and it honestly feels

like I " m pregnant.

I relate to the house being a mess.. I cleaned the day before the

surgery.. spotless.. and now.. its all upside down. I can't pick

anything up so I just get annoyed.. As for laundry and cooking... I

almost have given up.

I know yesterday was the worst for me.. today was better.. I hope

tomorrow is better for you.. Surgery really is a pill and takes it

out of you.

oh dont' worry about doing anything.. its not worth it.. IT'll sit

and wait for you.. or the kids might help out.

Take care.. if you want to email me.. feel free..

I'm so sorry to hear that things aren't going better. I've learned to leave the

house work and if anyone has an opinion about it they can clean it. LOL. I can't

believe your still working. With the amount of pain and pain meds I have to take

it became impossible for me to work. I am living in Nevada but my Dr. is in Los

Angeles, CA. He's been my Dr. since I was living in CA. Its hard to find Dr's

that really have any real knowledge of pancreatitis. Did you have your surgery

in CA? Which surgery was it? Sorry to ask so many questions. My kids are grown

and on their own but my husband is very patient with dealing with the

interupption of our lives.

Let me know how your symptoms resolve. Thanks for responding to my email

Hi, I actually had my gallbladder out years ago and have had pancreas problem

for as long as I can remember. I have had numerous ERCP's with and with out

stints etc. but nothing is working. The new idea to take out the pancreas is

very uncertain to me so am trying alternative methods for the pain. I'm trying a

tens unit I don't know how that will work but am up for anything. The new pain

meds and meds to help with my sleep problem are making me a bit sick but am

going to give it a little time to see if it even outs. I'm glad your feeling

better. I've never heard of gravol but I'm glad its working. I use a couple

different things. I hate not having a clean house but have resolved myself to

getting done what I can and if i can't someone else can help. Please let me know

how your progressing. Thank you for responding to my email

Hi Robin,

I had my surgery in Vallejo at Kaiser Hospital.

The work thing is wishy washy for me. I want to work, I try to work, but I'm

not sure if I'll be able to hold down a job or not. I just quit a 45 minute

commute for a closer job of 4 days a week & closer to home. Much closer & in

the opposite direction of the traffic.

What meds are you on?

I am on a waiting list to see a pain management specialist. I can't seem to get

anyone to give me anything any stronger than tylenol with codiene or darvocet.

Even after my surgery all I got was darvocet so I doubled up on them.

Nice talking to you.
