Guest guest
I can relate to that. I've been offered to be taken out to lunch on a few occasions when i was feeling bad and knew that eating anything substantial would be a problem for me. (someone offers to take me to lunch at a nice place and i order soup broth? = not worth going) But they don't see it that way. Same thing if there is an office pot luck luncheon and i don't participate, all of a sudden i am some kind of a jerk! It's hard for people (other people) to understand that just eating a regular meal can be a painfull undertaking. I haven't told my co-workers about my condition, cuz it's kind of a high pressure place, last thing i need is to be seen as the weak one. At the end of the day though, instead, i'm the anti social guy who won't join his office mates or sometimes clients for that matter, for lunch beau
Guest guest
I know exactly what you mean about not wanting to show any weaknesses at the work place. I never told a soul until after my first major panc surgery and I am a RN working with a bunch of RNs. I didn't want any pity and I certainly did not want any body thinking I was just milking it or using it as a crutch. I wonder if they ever stopped to think that we would have pretty much given anything to have been able to join in with them during the pot lucks and business luncheons. Humans beings are very social animals and so much of our social gatherings are around food. Having CP makes you loose that part of our social structure and it is a very difficult thing to give up. People do get very upset if you dont taste their panzit or pecan pie. They feel offended and that is never our intention. I hope you feeling as well as possible. Warmly,
