povidone & macrogol ... legal??

I found this as the inactive ingredients for the calcium supplement my

husband bought for my daughter.. could you please let me know if this

is legal? When I tried to find other supplements, looks like these two

are quite popular to use here in NZ.

You really want to stay away from the macrogol. It is prescribed for

kids with chronic constipation and is something others on this list are

trying hard to wean off. It is also known as Miralax. I am amazed

it's an ingredient in a calcium supplement.

I would highly recommend trying to get calcium from food--almonds,

leafy greens, salmon with bones, and perhaps later yogurt and cheese.

Hi Leena,

I looked them up on Wikipedia, and it looks like

neither are legal.

Povidone passes through the body undigested (anything

we don't digest feeds the bad bugs), and macrogol is a

laxative.
