Guest guest
Well before I tell you the problmes you have to understand that I had 3 major panreatic surgeries in 11 months. So the liklihood of you having the same problmes are remote. I had the total with auto islets November 16, 2004. In May of 05 I had a very large incisional hernia that went the entire length of my abdominal scar. I had a surgical repair of this where they brought in a plastic surgeon and litterally cut the abdominal muscles on both sides of my stomach, the obliques. They then pulled these muscles over to cover the defect from the herniation. 2 weeks after that surgery, which hurt a whole heck of a lot more then the total or any other surgery I had, the internal stitches ripped open and I developed an incarcerated strangulated hernia, that was HUGE and I had to have emergency surgery. I spent the better part of this summer in unbelievable pain. Well now it appears that I have developed adhesions which may require another operation. However, this surgery should be done laporascopically and be far less invasive then any of the others. The adhesions are almost as painful as the muscle cutting, stretching and stitching and is absolutely driving me nuts. I have had to go back on narcotics which I hated to do as I was completely off of them for so long. So thats the problems, no too bad, not too great, but I would still do the total with auto islets all over again if given the choice. I am far better off then I have been in years. When I had my pancreas I was completely unable to do much for myself or others and had no quality of life what so ever. By January after the total I felt like a new person, like my old self again. If it weren't for that stupid hernia I would be back at work and everything else I enjoy. Its OK tho, this too shall pass. Hope this helps if there is anyting else, please dont hesitate.
