Guest guest
Hi Jo, welcome to the group. I see that you and have already met. She is the most wonderful woman I think that I have ever me. She is so kind and understanding with a truely sincere heart not to mention her ammazingly positive attitude. I wish to God I had her patience. I truly love that woman. Anyway, back to your question. Did you have your gallbladder out via a laporascope? If so, the surgeon has to inflate your abdomen; just llike you inflate a balloon. This way he can better visualize the organs with the scope that he looks through. They do try to get all of the gas out but that is virtually immpossible to do so. Gas pain can be very uncomfortable for sure. You can get some OTC anti gas meds but they arn't as affective for this type of gas. Your best bet is to try to walk as much as possible and well to pass gas. I knowing walking is the last thing you want to do, but honestly, it will help. Also dont drink many sodas or use a straw. They just iincrease the amount of gas you have. I know that I am basically addicted to my diet sodas but I pour it in a glass so there are less bubbles getting into my system. I do hope that you will be feeling better soon but do allow time for your body to heal. Warmly, (SC)
Guest guest
hey ! Thankyou for the warm welcome to the group. yes I had laparoscopic surgery (that word is so annoying to spell!) Its just the first few days after the surgery I had the 'gas' pains, but this has only just started happening in the past 2 days. Its so uncomfortable that sleep seems to be a thing of the past. I seem to eat and /or drink and then my stomach moves. I am going back to the surgeon today and will torture him with my gassy stomach! I am also meant to be going back to work tomorrow.. What was it I was told.. <puts on my male surgeon voice> This surgery has a short recovery time, you should be very much nearly back to normal the day after the surgery, and within 2 or 3 days back to doing everything the same as before. Someone suggested to me (Last nite.. after the fact).. that instead of the surgery I drink a cup of oil and I should pass the 1 1/2 inch gall stone.. I just said, the agony of doing that would've had me in emergency writhing in pain, and it was stuck.. there was no way that huge honking thing was going to pass through anything.. Funny how people have suggestions.. Oh well. Anyway, I'm off to torture a surgeon!.. I could just put on a really thick Aussie accent.. he won't understand a word I say.. Duesy.. Jo. (I know I made light of it.. Its not funny at all, but you know there has to be a laugh somewhere.. its been a really lousy week and I just want to get past it) > Hi Jo, welcome to the group. Guest guest
Hi JO. I hope the doctors appt goes well. AFter my lap chole, a less annoying way of spelling it...LOL, I was given a week off and told I could have 2 wees if needed, which I did. I cant imagine that he would say you would be ready to roll after only 2 days recovery. Shoot it takes that long just to get over the anesthesia if you ask me. I hope you are feeling better and let us know what the doc has to say. Warmly, (SC)
Guest guest
oh I saw the doctor.. for all of two minutes (and I'm not exagerrating) He took off my bandages, said I looked great.. I told him I'd been delirious for 5 dayz and in hospital. he didn't know and seemed upset about that. (that no one from the hospital had called him) I said.. My stomach is moving, like a baby kicking.. he said that I needed to let the gas out.. (two choices.. lol). Which makes it pretty dangerous to follow me to close!.. lol. and he said goodbye and was gone.. He mentioned somehting about a six week checkup. but I didn't need it. But My scars are amazing, they are soooooo small. I was shocked! so I guess it was good.. I still have a moving stomach, and hope to sleep tonite. I'm back to work tomorrow.. I dont' know if I " m ready, but I " ll request light duties, so I'll be ok. > > Hi JO. I hope the doctors appt goes well.
