Guest guest
I am so sorry to read that your edema has worsened and the lasix is not doing much to help it. When the docs prescribed the lasix, did they discuss the need to increase your dietary potassium or to take a potassium supplement. Lasix can flush potassium out of you body and we need it to keep a healty heart. If potassium levels go too low, it increases the risks significantly for heart problems. It can also increase ones blood sugar. How long have you been taking it? I hope that things are going well for you and the family. Any luck with the house hunting? Guest guest
Hi Chrissy, Yes, my doctor told me to drink a glass of orange juice every day whilst on the Lasix, which I have been doing obediently. I also looked up a list of symptoms that low potassium would give me so I'd know if something went wrong it might be that... We close on the house this morning..well as the woman gave us cash, we only need to transfer the deed over which will take all the time of 3 signatures being signed...so as of 11.45 am, we shall be homeless *L* I have some more houses to look at on Saturday. I think I'm going to need some help with packing. My back and tummy can't stand up to the bending down and lifting much. I should get some of dennis' family down for a packing party and it would all be done within a few hours *L* I'll supply food and drinks and balloons etc . It works in Oz when people need their house painted or whatever..should start the trend over here ...want to come? *LOL* Jo (Duesy) is another aussie who had to make the move to Canada...I met her on my aussie website and she mentioned she was having surgery for GB removal. I directed her to here when I found out she was having problems after it. Will give you a call soon... love
Guest guest
I would love to come to your packing party; sounds like a fun way to get a job done. I'm afraid tho, that I wouldn't be much help other then for delivering drinks and comedic relief..*S*. Back when Billy was building this house, he had his brothers and other budies up to help. I cooked and carried them cold drinks and fed them all well. One cousin still talks about how excellent my Okra soup was and its been 20 years of not longer! That is so exciting tho, house shopping and having cash in hand to boot. Cant get much better then that. Must be soemthing about TN where the housing market is so strong. You and Kris really came out of the experience scarless. Boy I went through he** and high water selling Mother's house. I'm glad they talked with you about the potassium. I have seen so many patients have complications of diruetics because they did not understand the importance of that mineral. It was interesting what Angie had said about cp, edema and malnutrition. With all your intestinal surgeries have they ever told you anything about short gut syndrome or dumping syndrome. These are quite common after bowel surgery/resection and can be a cause of malnutrition as well. Just a thought, I would just hate it if you had problems again with your panc. It has really been behaving the last few year/s. The other two are not so pleasant either but would be the lesser of 2 evils so to speak. Good luck with the house hunting and dont forget about that hot tub with a dreamy view of the mountains. Love Chrissy
