Hey :

When I go to MUSC, I always see an anesthesiologist the day before

because they put me out with a MAC anesthesia. Can I ask him to put

on my chart that my IV is to be started in the OR only by an

anesthesiologist so that I have back up when I ask teh nurse not to

start it? I am still obsessing here!

Thanks

Kaye,

This is the only place where the nurses actually listen to me about

not being able to get my veins. After my second surgery, they couldn't

get a vein for the anaesthesiologists, so they used my port to knock

me out with Propofol and put an IV in my neck whilst I was under.

3rd and subsequent surgeries, the Anaesthesiologists remembered

me...could be the accent..not too many of my accents around Knoxville,

and they always access my port, keep me awake until the OR and then

use the Propofol, then put in an IV...last surgery, they couldn't even

get an IV in my neck, so they just used the port for both surgery and

post op recovery..

Regards,

Are you talking about MUSC? I don't have a port or a PICC or any

kind of a line and can't have one because of complications. All I

know, is nobody is sticking me w/o numbing it up first.
