Hello:

While I wait to get my hands on the book I wanted to start on the

Intro diet. The Intro diet refers to Dry Curd Cottage Cheese. Is

Indian Paneer similar or a subsitute?

Thanks,

Wow, , I was reading on Wikipedia and it does look very similar.

Is it dry and crumbly? I don't know enough about it to authorize it

for sure, but I hope someone can tell you one way or the other.

Since Paneer doesn't have a bacterial culture added before the

washing of the curds I think there will likely be resdiual lactose.

There are sources for DCCC at

http://www.scdiet.org/8resources/drycurd_sources.html

These links also outlines legal and illegal foods and how to get

started:

- they should help get you started until your book arrives. : )

Thank you (julie46250) and Sheila for your responses.

Paneer is a bit rubbery and unsalted (texturally similar to Queso

Blanco). From the SCD perspective, I think Sheila is right and so I

will skip the idea for now.

I finally got the book and have read through it once (skimmed the

sections after the Legal foods).

I have had many undiagnosed ailments for too many years and came upon

the SCD through casual conversation at a recent neighborhood

gathering. It appears that many of my symptoms are similar to those

described in the book and in the generally available info on GI disorders.

I am hoping to see even slight improvements on the SCD to determine if

it is for me and could help. The basic aspects of SCD make much sense

and we are considering adapting them into our family diet (wife has

struggled with weight, daughter has some Sensory Integration issues).

Thanks for your help.
