Guest guest
Hi Heidi, Well they are doing the surgery on my husband on Nov. 14th. They feel the walls of the cyst are thick enough that it is not in danger of rupturing soon. They cannot do the cystgastrostomy--because of a prior stomach surgery, his stomach is flipped so they cannot attach a drain to it. They are going to put a drain to his intestines. I know the name, cannot spell it. The surgeon does not feel that the spleen needs to be removed at this time. He disagrees with my husband's gastroenterologist. They are going to do a cat scan a couple of days before the surgery to look at the spleen again and decide then. He is also not going to fix the hiatal hernia because he said it is a medium risk surgery already, he doesn't want to complicate things by doing more surgery at the same time. If anyone here has had this surgery and can relay their experiences post-op I would appreciate it. We are a bit nervous, but also anticipating it as I hope my husband will get much relief once he has the surgery. In saying that, we also know he is lucky because he doesn't have alot of the symptoms that are associated with this disease and with the cyst. Thanks all,
