Guest guest
, this idea also crossed my mind because I'm an islet transplant patient. Why wouldn't an islet transplant work for a pancreatitis person? We're (Diabetics and Pancreatitis People) both suffering from a pancreas that no longer works. Since an islet transplant is much less invasive than an organ transplant, why not try this? The big problem with islet transplants is the wait for a donor who's passed away. There appear to be fewer donors available at this time, apparently the donors available happen in stages. That's why the wait can take up to two years or longer. I hear that they're considering using pig's islets,(where they got the insulin diabetics used to use and Dr. Valdez in Mexico uses islets from piglets for his transplants for Diabetic patients). Is there a qualified person/Dr. who would explain?
