I had my medport placed in my chest this past May and am hoping to

get a few years out of it. After years of IV's placed in

the " normal " places and then anywhere they could find I graduated to

EJ's in the neck and then chest lines. I've had the pic lines too

which were great while in the hospital but a drag to use at home

when trying to live a normal life. Countless nurses urged me to

look into a port a cath and I discussed it with the pancreatitis

clinic who ok'd the idea and I had my local general surgeon place

it. It has been a lifesaver since I've been hospitalized 4 times

since May. No question now when I go to an emergency room as to my

condition. They see me quickly and so far, have had no problem

accessing it. Hope everyone is having a good week. Sorry I haven't

posted in a while but I read posts daily. My son is keeping

me quite busy and he will be 1 in November. I am looking into

having home health come in and take care of me when I am having an

attack. Just have to get the protocol set by the clinic and the

insurance company sees it saving them and us alot more money. It

will also save me from shuffling from Grandma to Grandma.

They are more than happy to come to the house now. I'm lucky to

have such a supportive husband and family. Take care everyone.
