Guest guest
Hi, I have been following the talk about post-op hairloss. I thought I would add would I have seen written about it since early June. I was told early on that the ahirloss starts anywhere from 3-6 mo. post-op. Some don't really notice anything and others complain alot and others buy wigs. It probably has a lot to do with how thick your hair is to begin with. Anesthesia is suppose to be the biggest reason, followed by rapid weightloss and nutritional deficiencies. It happens from other surgeries as well. I have not found any pattarn of any supplements making a real difference for a significant number of people. Whether it is high protein intake, fish oil, Hair potions or special shampoos. It seems to help our sense of control to be proactive and for those without much hairloss, they can usually attribute it to something they have been doing or not doing. I do all the supplements. I haven't hit 3 mo yet. i will around Christmas. I already feel that I lose a great deal of hair regularly over the past year or so. So I am praying that it doesn't get much worse. But it seems to be the luck of the draw and how thin your hair was to being with. Also, somebody mentioned the vitamins as prevention for hairloss. The 3x vitamins are essential because 1) we can't eat enough to get in really great nutrition and 2) Our bypasses cause vitamin and mineral defienceies and we can't utilize all we take, so we take 3x as much in hopes that at least one or more are properly absorbed. There's my 2 cents to the discussion. I agree its a small price to pay for health and a much more normal weight! I am on a little weight plateau, but still doing great.
