Walt, isn't that the truth? It seems that as soon as you've got one problem figured out and under control, something new comes along that you have to deal with! I'm on Lantus, too, and did find that I had to make upward adjustments to my dosage to keep myself in control. I thought it was because I'd gained weight, and seemed to need more insulin to compensate for the weight gain. So I would increase the dosage by 2 units, and wait for three days before making any further changes. Then if it still wasn't enough, add 2 more units, and wait another three days. My Endo told me that you needed to give the insulin three days to adjust before making any more changes. I started at 11 units, but finally ended up at 22 units, which seems to work well, as my HbA1c was 5.4. Have you tried the new Lantus pen? I just started with that, and do love the convenience of that over a vial, since you don't have to refrigerate it. I hope you get your dosing straightened out and are able to get that good control again. With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth SC & SE Regional Rep. Guest guest
I use the pen for Novalog which is great because I only use between 2-4 units at time very rarely. I am upto 14 units and my morning sugars are at 110. I see my endo. on the 18 of Nov. Yet the thing that a suprised me the most is the relation between break thru pain and high blood sugars. It is some thing that this disease is progressing/get worse every six months. Walt
