Guest guest
My daughter is asking me questions about vaccines and also commenting on the things she eats and how they seem to make her 3 month old baby fussy. She is nursing. She also says she does not have enough milk....and has tried supplementing with regular formula with not so good results.... Can the infant formula formula on 159 of BTVC be used for a 3 month old just to supplement. I think the child may have hypermotility and definitly gas and is colicky. She (my daughter has postphoned the vaccinations (third round) and is looking for a doctor that will give them separately instead of the combos, and 4 or 5 in one day. ( and I thank you for all the information and suggestions that you all have passed along...regarding this matter)I have relayed them to her....They want the vaccines to be given because they do travel world wide...I don't want them to because my son her brother went down hill fast after his vaccines 30 years ago. Autism...My daughter lives in England...If anyone has any advice.please pass along to me and I will relay to her.

You might want to check with the SCD-UK group -- they might be able to tell you of resources particular to the UK. Guest guest
Feel free to pass this along to your daughter... First make sure that you are actually not making enough milk. Many moms think this, but they either are making enough or they are using gadgets such as pacifiers, bottles, or not offering the breast enough which is reducing their milk supply. Check out this article... http://www.kellymom.com/bf/supply/low-supply.html If you are truly not able to make enough milk and you use formula in a bottle, you then make less milk. Supplementing with formula in this way leads to weaning to formula very quickly. The correct way to build up a low milk supply or supplement one that is truly low (such as when a mother nurses an adopted baby) is by using a SNS. Here is a description http://www.medela.com/NewFiles/pdfs/SNS_Ins_3-langIns.pdf If you look at the picture, you can see the baby receives all supplemented formula at the breast along with breast milk. This way the breasts are being stimulated to make more milk while the formula is being dispensed. My midwive adopted her first child and used a SNS for the baby's first 6 months to feed the baby decreasing amounts of formula while she built up her own milk supply by having the baby nurse at her breast (many people don't realize this, but a woman who has never been pregnant can build up a milk supply & nurse a baby). Once the baby was on solids, she stopped the formula and continued to nurse her baby for 2 more years. I also know women who have used a SNS for low milk supply resulting from previous breast surgery. You can use a SNS short-term or long-term if needed. Galactagogues can also be used to increase milk http://www.kellymom.com/herbal/milksupply/herbal_galactagogue.html HTH, paulaloveless wrote: My daughter is asking me questions about vaccines and also commenting on the things she eats and how they seem to make her 3 month old baby fussy. She is nursing. Guest guest
Hi a, made some great suggestions on how to increase breastmilk. Since the baby is having problems (gas, colic, motility) it should also help if the mom does SCD. This will allow the babies gut to heal.
