Guest guest
Augh! So I got Kedem 100 percent grape juice at Costco. I had purchased a couple of other bottles of grape juice that were also 100 percent grape juice. Well, the Kedem tastes better. So much better, I'm suspicious. And then I checked the archives and it says Kedem organic grape juice is OK...but maybe not the other kind. I am mad, because if I just wasted $8 on like gallons of grape juice, that sucks. It says there is added grape juice concentrate. That makes me think this stuff is not good. Can anyone tell me if I'm wrong or not? I can't call customer service until Monday. B. Guest guest
I think the organic and the non-organic Kedem are okay. If you read the label on the legal Welch's grape, you'll notice it says " from concentrate " , too. I know.... defies logic.... but it's legal. That really ONLY applies to the grape juices. I'll double-check with someone that I know will know for sure... and get back to you. Patti Kedem grape juice Augh! So I got Kedem 100 percent grape juice at Costco. Guest guest
Kedem grape juice was on sale at the local store so I decided to retry diluted fruit juice. The white grape juice had " may have from concentrate " and something else listed. The purple didn't say that anything about from concentrate and I don't think it was organic but I don't know. Guest guest
The info I was able to get from a veteran SCD-er is that the non organic Kedem contains a legal additive, which she says she checked out with Elaine Gottschall years ago. I don't know what that additive is, as I don't have the label in front of me. Can you check your label and let us know exactly what it says under " ingredients " ? If in doubt, can you return your unopened bottles? I have to admit, I never buy any kind of juice, so I've never purchased the Kedem... my daughter only drinks water with fresh lemon juice and tiny bit of honey or stevia. patti
Guest guest
Hi Patti, You know, I'm not a juice drinker really either...I only bought it to make the legal jello to keep my son happy while we go through this! The label states: Concord grape juice (may be sweetened with grape juice concentrate), potassium metabisulfate added to enhance freshness. That's it! The problem was that I bought a two pack and I had already opened one bottle and made jello with it. I gave it to my son, and then I tasted it, and I was a little suspicious because it did seem sweeter. But adding extra grape concentrate would likely make it taste a bit sweeter. My sugar sensor is broken anyway as I was sugar free (including fruit) for two weeks prior to starting the diet. So I don't know what to think. Thanks for allaying my fears somewhat. I'm just annoyed that I seem to be screwing up left and right and I've only just begun! Oh well, at least the chicken soup I made is good! Guest guest
Hi, My bottle is the purple grape juice, 1 pint, 6 oz. Ingredients: Grape juice, Potassium Metabisulfite (added to enhance freshness). There is a website on here as www.kedem.com and on the front it says 100% pure juice, no sugar added, no artificial colors or flavor. Thanks, Debbie 38 crohn's pentasa scd 1/07 > Hi Patti, > > You know, I'm not a juice drinker really either...I > only bought it to make the legal jello to keep my son > happy while we go through this! > > The label states: > > Concord grape juice (may be sweetened with grape juice > concentrate), potassium metabisulfate added to enhance > freshness. > > That's it! If they aren't if you want to use them Elaine suggested in BTVC (appendix) to contact the company and request a letter (preferably company letterhead) that states they are no addeds sweeteners etc... Guest guest
Please don't beat up on yourself. We all make mistakes, especially in the beginning. > > Thanks for allaying my fears somewhat. I'm just > annoyed that I seem to be screwing up left and right > and I've only just begun!
