Guest guest
HI , I'm sorry to hear about your problems. As someone who has had a lifetime of " stomach " problems (turned out to be hereditary pancreatitis, in my case.....55 years before final diagnosis!!) I do sympathise. I hope that your symptoms are caused by something other than CP. As you know, there are many conditions which can results in similar symptoms. However, if it does turn out to be CP, you will probably find that the treatments do help. Many of us are greatly helped by a diet low in fats (but NOT, as Crystal pointed out, TOO low, as that can also be dangerous), small meals, pancreatic enzymes such as Creon, NO ALCOHOL etc. I myself have found this regime very helpful. Painkillers may also be needed. You would need to discuss this with your doctors as there are many different approaches depending on the severity and frequency of pain. I usually manage quite well with codeine and paracetamol but I know this combination is not particularly popular in the US. Just a few thoughts : The bloating could well be IBS, even if you have something else as well. It's possible to have more than one condition. (I have coeliac disease as well as CP.) Someimes people who have their gall bladder removed do continue to have " gall bladder " problems. So....let's hope it isn't CP but, if it is, don't despair. The symptoms can usually be eased. Take care. Fliss (UK)
