Hi I had my spleen removed last november when I had my pancreas

removed. I have had absolutely no problems with infections, yet, and I

have 3 kids running around. Having your spleen removed will not affect

you viral immunity yet it will affect you bacterial immunity but not by

much tho. I had asked my doctor about it and he wrote me that my risks

of bacterial infections is 1/200,00. Thats is how he wrote it so I am

not sure if its 200K or 20K but the risk is still relatively low. I ma

however a lot more conscious about exposure then I used to be and have

antibacterial everything. I dont get out much but have wondered what

might happen when I return to work, I am a RN. but I will cross that

bridge when I get there.

Hope this helps.

Thank you Heidi. this is what I am hoping for. I am going to see the surgeon

next week sometime and then I can call my case worker to set up the assist. I

too am hoping all will go well. Thanks for responding, and during my recovery

time will hope to have more contact with the group.

While you're apprehensive about this surgery, it does seem to be the

only resolution for you if you want to regain your health. I would

think that if you delayed too long, it would only mean more blockage

and the potential for more clotting. This would be something you need

to avoid at all cost.

It's a shame that you need to ask for assistance from the state again.

So many people have this problem, where their illness uses up all

their vacation and sick time, so if you can get state assistance

you'll be better off. Hopefully the recovery time won't br too long,

and you'll get back to work in short time, feeling 100% better!

With love, hope and prayers,

Heidi

Let us know when the surgery is scheduled for. If you already said

when it was, I apologize, my mind is like a sieve lately and I can't

seem to remember half of what I never knew.....;-)

With love, hope and prayers,
