Guest guest
Hello all, We are angry and upset tonight because he was denied today. He is extremely depressed - says they would be better off if he was dead and if it wasn't for the boys he would already be dead. He scares me so much. The doc increased his Prozac, but he is really in the dumps tonight. We'll start working on the appeal process soon. Thanks all for any hope and advice. Guest guest
; I haven't been following this thread, but if whomever you are talking about was denied because of the pancreatitis and is clinically depressed, go at it (SSDI) from the angle of depression. There are many clinical forms of depression and one of them is " In response to a medical condition " . I'm a retired peace officer due to depression/anxiety and then because of my back. I guess chronic pancretitis is the next layer. It's ok to e-mail me privately. Hopefeully I can help. I haven't anything else to do with my time; so I don't mind lending an ear. Guest guest
Dear Dick and Alan, By the way, he he a retired police dog?? My dad and hubby were officers of the law also. You men are awesome. Yes, the denied because his pancreatitis waxes and wanes, but they didn't realize that the good days would be sucky days to any one else. His depression has been getting much worse over the last few weeks, but then so has his pain control and his general physical condition. They are treating him with major antibiotics for a sinus infection and he just generally feels like crap and with more pain. I can't stand to hear him say he wishes he was dead and that his family would be better off if they had his insurance, at least they could pay the bills. He is so down on himself because he feels like a flop as a husband and a father and yet his wife and kids worship him and love every little minute he gives them. We will let this news sink in for a day or two then hit the books and work on the appeal. I have a friend working for a SSD lawyer and they've been waiting to hear from us. Thanks for you help and I will probably bend your ear more than once. > ; > > I haven't been following this thread, but if whomever you are talking > about was denied because of the pancreatitis and is clinically > depressed, go at it (SSDI) from the angle of depression. Guest guest
Coming from a country (Australia) where one doesn't have to be at death's door to be able to obtain a disability pension, only a letter from one's doctor with medical records being all that is needed to obtain a pension, and then only having to wait 2-4 weeks to get it, makes me wonder if the government actually struck a deal with the Lawyer's association..the Bar or whatever it is..to deny multiple times just so people need to obtain a lawyer on most occasions to win the right for disablement payments... I think this is the most major thing with the USA that infuriates me enough to make my blood boil. There are a few other things that I disagree with but not nearly to the extent that this does. It's bad enough that one has to contend with their illness, but to have the physician's diagnosis and advice ignored on the most part and fight for money that is rightfully theirs in order to exist is so inhumane. Guest guest
Hi , Let him know I feel for him and don't give up. the only reason I won't get that depressed over the whole process is because that means they win. I would not wish this disease on my worst enemy or even on those people at social security. I don't wish that they have the pain just for one night but one day they will somehow come across one of us in real life and have to deal with this face to face. My hearing is coming up and I have little hope. But what good feelings I have I wont allow them to take away from me. I have become a burden on my family and they make it worse by denying that the work I've done my whole life was not worth anything either. I know this probably doesn't help but we are here as well as his family to listen when he's beaten down. Guess venting helps too. LOL Hang in there. Guest guest
Hmmmm...well I was denied three times before I went before a judge. He asked me four times where my lawyer was and I told him I didn't need one. Once the hearing started I walked up to the table and put all the pills I take every single day. Safe to say the table was very full. I was lucky....I had tried to work for a month and was fired because I was in so much pain and couldn't get out of bed. Here in Tennessee they also bring in someone that doesn't know about the case just from all the paperwork that was in my file. Now you can more then likely get disablity for another illness. You will end up only keeping it for about a year though. When the Voc tech lady (she was from KY) talked to the judge she told him that even if I was able to do a desk job (answering the phones) that I would be on so much pain meds that I wouldn't be able to keep up with the daily demands. You can bring anyone you want to talk on your behalf. You do have to keep in mind that if you are going to try for pancreatitis as the disablity you WILL get turned down at least three times. Just don't give up on it at all cause that is what the expect us to do. Now keep in mind this is in Tennessee so each state is different. I am one of the few ppl in the state that did get CP as the disablity. When I went up for my first review they did want me to change it to depression or diabetes. I refused this because I knew after a year I would be reviewed yet again and would lose all my benefits. I am working on getting my disablity award papers posted on here so maybe it can help ppl out with how the hearings work and also see what I had to have in my file (doc's notes,X ray's,ultrasounds, and blood work) If you have any questions or just need someone to listen feel free to post here or email me kebajackson@... Now I am on bed rest for at least a week. So I might be checking the postings/email everyday. My kidney's are failing and I can't get my heart rate to slow down. So I am trying to relax at home before I decide to go into the hospital. Hope that everyone has a pain free nite KebaJ. > > Dear Dick and Alan, > By the way, he he a retired police dog?? Guest guest
Thanks so much for your words of encouragement. Three times denied - wow. It's a shame, they seem to want to make sure you have lost your home and everything else before they are willing to help. Makes me so angry. We will continue to try. He is seeing his doctor tomorrow and maybe she'll have some suggestions. She better have something to say or she better figure out how to make him feel better than he does now. I'm so sorry to hear about your kidney failure. has had kidney dysfunction - but each time, with antibiotics he responded and improved kidney-wise. I hope you feel much better soon. Thank you again.
