Hi Sheila,

I had taken a hiatus from dairy, only because of suspected yeast overgrowth and

the 'most likely' antibiotics used in dairy manufacture.  I tried

soymilk...yuk.  We were on rice milk before I started SCD, but, well, you

know...rice is out.  Surprisingly, I feel better overall.  My two oldest boys

have asthma, so I was having them drink the rice milk, too, except for the

occasional ice cream.  Since starting SCD (a week ago), we haven't had any milk

or cheese.  Of all my family members, I'm the one who is least affected by

dairy...and I miss cheese!

There is legal dairy and as long as you tolerate it there is no

reason to avoid it. Some families choose to start SCD with dairy,

some choose to be dairy free when they start and consider starting

it later, and some plan on remaining dairy free while they do SCD.

If you are considering making yogurt you can use this link

http://www.realmilk.com/where2.html to find antibiotic free milk (to

make yogurt). They may also be able to help you find antibiotic

free legal cheeses.
