Guest guest
Jim, If it helpes I quit smoking cole turkey. Twice. Both for good reasons. The first time I foundout I was pregnant. No brainer! QUIT! Started again when my son was about 5. Stupid mistake. We had out of town guests for 3 weeks and all they did was smoke so I started. The second time I quit cold turkey was the day I read that smokers that have Hereditary Pancreatits have a 50% greater chance of developing pancreatic cancer than none smokers or even those who have pancreatitis in another form. Since my CP is idiopathic, that became another no brainer. I quit the second I read that. Haven't smoked since March 19, 2002, I have no desire to and am really hard my husband when he smokes. If you need a reason to quit, how about that adorable (hope I don't offend you) grandchild (?), or child or wife you cherish. Do it for them. Thats an even stronger, more compelling reason to stick with quitting. It's hard! I know it is. Find a date when no matter what, you can quit PERIOD! And don't forget to set the small goals for doing so and reward yourself for making it to those goals. Thats really important. I hope you feel better and I just know that when you are able to quit, you'll find it to be easier than you thought. Sandy in Ca -------------- Original message -------------- Hi Heidi, Thank you for the encouraging words about quitting cigarrettes. I think the key is visualization, you have to be able to see yourself as a non-smoker. I've been smoking for 27 years and I can finally see myself putting them down forever. I need all the prayers I can get for this one....hope you are well...Jim
Guest guest
Hi Sandy, Well thank you so much for the support. I can actually see myself as a nonsmoker which I could never do in the past and I fell that is the reason that trying to quit didn't work. I wish I had a girlfriend to quit smoking for..lets just say that with chronic pancreatitis and disability, they aren't lining up outside my bedroom door like they used to. I hope this note finds you painfree....Jim

Guest guest
Thank you Crystal, I need all the prayers and help I can get. My mom is Irish-Catholic and very religious, so she has the red-phone direct line to God, and I know she uses it for me every day.
