Guest guest
Hi: I'm new to the diet as well. I have 5 yr old twins with autism and we are on day five of the diet. I have to admit that I didn't do the intro because I was having a hard time finding things that both of my kids would eat. I feel like the only things they want to eat are pancakes (chicken or nut flour) with honey. I too am frustrated as I feel I keep fixing the same things over and over, however, I'm encouraged because I feel the meals are much healthier than what they were originally eating on the GFCF and not to gross anyone out, but their stools are now dark which they were always light which I heard indicated yeast overgrowth. Two things I would like to know is: what kind of things are you able to get your kids to eat on the intro diet? When did you feel safe to introduce the goat yogurt, I already have the yogurt maker and am anxious to get started. Also do those of you who started the yogurt, do your kid's just eat it plain or do you have to disguise it or add something to it? I would love to hear your progress on the diet, I've been following Stan Kurtz's listserv and have heard a lot of encouraging news for our ASD kiddos. Thanks, mrenglund@... Guest guest
I am just getting ready to start this diet. I have the book on reerve at the library and will use the time reading it to try to make some things and see how my son(PDD-NOS) likes it. We had been doing GFCF but I think this will be better. And honestly the recipes I have seen online seem easy and edible so I think that will make this easier. I think this group will be a huge help as i have already learned a lot here! Even on the GFCF diet my son's stools never changed. I know he has yeast/gut issues and hope this is our answer. Even probiotics didn't help with that. I am glad you asked these questions--the intro diet is so limited I hope you get some good anwers! -------------- Original message -------------- Hi: I'm new to the diet as well. Guest guest
Hi , Did you check the pecanbread.com website for Intro ideas? If you click " SCD Foods " ... then " ASD Intro " , you'll find some kid-friendly suggestions. Doing the Intro Diet really clears the decks for healing... it's an important step, and it's only two days. So, we recommend you consider going back and doing those two days at some point before long. You can also re-do a day or so of Intro any time you get sort of stuck... or if there is an infraction or something. It can really jumpstart everything. We usually recommend waiting a couple of months to start goat yogurt... and then starting VERY slowly with just a teeny amount (recommendations are on www.pecanbread.com ) ... just so no one confuses initial response to yogurt with die-off symptoms that are common in the beginning.
