Guest guest
My daughter has never had a problem with constipation. Her stools were somewhat soft and snake shaped, but well formed and brown (when I saw them. She pretty much takes care of her bathroom needs by herself). But since being on this diet, I thought it would be a good thing if I kept tabs on them, and told her to tell me whenever she goes. I told her that about a week ago, and she went one time about last Friday. (Very small, round, light brown, well-formed). It is possible that she is going and not telling me, but I don't think so. I'm starting her on zuccini today. Should I leave the peels on? Any suggestions? Thanks, Kathy, mom to , 12 SCD since 10/29/

That may indicate constipation. However, if the stool is very similar to what it was before, reduced output isn't unusual especially at the beginning of the diet. Depending on what she is eating there may be a marked reduction in the waste her body is getting rid of it. In other words since she is now eating food that she can digest and absorb her body is using more of it for healing, growth etc.. so there won't be as much waste (or food for the harmful microbes) as before SCD. This may be temporary and as she starts eating more variety with more fiber there should be an increase in stool. If she has discomfort or bad symptoms or if the frequency of bowel movements doesn't increase please let us know.
