Guest guest
Hi Jeanette, I am sure that no-one will mind if you stick around and ask questions. There are a lot of people on this board who are either in your situation or your husband's. We run the gamut of being a care-giver to someone with pancreatitis to having mild chronic pancreatitis to quite severe CP. The first thihg you may want to clarify is the acutal condition that your doctors are describing about your husband. Is he diagnosed with acute pancreatitis or chronic? I am assuming acute, from what you have mentioned...but I could be wrong. The reason it is somewhat important to distinguish between the two is that there are different prognoses (possibly) and different strategies to try sometimes. Feel free to ask questions.........any kind or any amount. People generally will try to answer as best they can. laurie
Guest guest
Thanks for answering, Unfortunately, he is definitely chronic at this point. Matt (my husband) was in the hospital for 8 days two years ago with pancreatitis. I didn't know enough to get things classified back then, but as the cause was uncontrolled diabetes, and his diabetes worsened after the first attack, I think it was probably mild chronic. Now there is a lot of scar tissue and dead tissue, pseudocysts, etc. He will be on enzymes. His body appears to be producing little, if any, insulin on its own. I knew this was chronic about a month ago, but the doctors in the hospital made it sound like they could just patch him up, send him home, and back to life as usual. It was only yesterday, after talking with a physician's assistant, that I found out more information. Unfortunately, I have known that " something big " was coming for years. Diabetes just isn't a disease you can ignore for long and get away with it. If this isn't a wake up call, I don't know what is.
