Guest guest
Hello Everyone, My daughter has been on the diet since 8/2/07, we have had lots of gains and some obstacles. Most recently she got sick (in late September) and it's just been one cold after another! She is still sick at the moment, but I have not had to use tylenol for 3 days - at which point I put her back on the intro. I am sure all the corn starch and such in the tylenol coupled with whatever leftover yeast she has had were causing her the trouble she was experiencing lately. We had 2 days of major tantrum, hyperactivity, angry feelings due to die off, I think...today was better. Before the diet I could not get her to drink, so when I tried the electrolyte drink and it was a hit I was more than happy to give her as much as she wanted - up to 100 oz she was drinking! I have not given it to her on the intro, and I feel like she was craving it so veraciously to feed the yeast??? SO to continue on from the intro, I wondered a couple of things: 1. If she has yeast should I add no fruit (she seems not to tolerate fruit - becomes angry and/or hyper) 2. Is a 1/4 celery 1/4 carrot 1/2 apple juice, freshly made a good idea? If so, how much? 3. Should I reduce, or eliminate the honey? She was having approx 3 tablespoons a day. 4. What is the Vitamin K protocol? I give my daughter 1/4 tsp of the legal kirkmans calcium powder and I wonder if this is right and when to give it, or what to add???!!! Thanks for any feedback, I would love to consult with one of the scd specialists, but I am a single mom and I get no financial support from my daughter's father..so any suggestions or experience is greatly appreciated Susie Hansen mother to 3 yo undiagnosed ella scd 8/2/
Guest guest
If you feel she has a yeast problem, you may want to address that with a variety of different things. Some need to limit or eliminate honey and fruit for a while. I will send my " yeast control post " again. If honey is a problem, you can make the Electrolyte Drink without honey, and sweeten it with saccharin. The baking soda, salt and lemon juice are the most important components anyway, and they help support the kidneys. The Vitamin K protocol is specifically intended to address the problem of calcium oxalate crystals which form in the body..... common with ASD kids. Find out more by reading Tamaro's research here: http://gutresearch.com/v1.html And by joining her discussion group here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/VitaminK/ believes oxalate crystals form when the body can't properly manage calcium, due to deficient levels of the fat soluable vitamins, A, D and K. I have not > given it to her on the intro, and I feel like she was craving it so > veraciously to feed the yeast??? >>>> Did you do the electrolyte mix with the honey? I posted a few other versions for those who don't tolerate honey or have yeast problems etc... Some of the other juices are beter tolerated than others does she do okay with any specific juice? If yes, let me know and I'll calculate how much you need. I found that I couldn't eat any honey or grape juice (because of my yeast overgrowth) but was okay with diluted legal apple cider. Some find the homemade pear juice is well tolerated. <<<<SO to continue on from the intro, I wondered a couple of things: > 1. If she has yeast should I add no fruit (she seems not to tolerate > fruit - becomes angry and/or hyper)>>>> Are you peeling and cooking the fruit? Have you tried mango? Papaya? Pears? <<<<<2. Is a 1/4 celery 1/4 carrot 1/2 apple juice, freshly made a good > idea? If so, how much?>>>> Apple cider and homemade apple juice are legal; commercial apple juice is not legal. Fresh carrot juice is a natural antifungal. The mix you listed above is good but should be diluted at least 50% when you start it. <<<3. Should I reduce, or eliminate the honey? She was having approx 3 tablespoons a day.>>> You have eliminated it while on the intro, correct? It may be best to try introducing a few other veggies and then fruits before you try the honey again. Allow yourself enough time between each food that you reintroduce after the intro to make sure all are tolerate and don't increase the yeast. After those additions if you want to try the honey start with a small amount 1/2 tsp/day too see if that bothers her. Stay at each level of the honey for at least 3 days before increasing. Are you using any probiotics, yogurt? These would help with yeast Regarding yeast please read the information at: http://pecanbread.com/new/yeast.html http://pecanbread.com/new/yeastsheila.html <<<<4. What is the Vitamin K protocol? Guest guest
Sheila- Thanks for your insight and experience...my daughter basically becomes obsessed with anything containing fruit or honey...i'm tellin you she is insatiable!! I have not tried mango or papaya, nor have I tried only apple. I am always scared to try these things, the explosion when it doesn't work and I have to pull it is unreal...but, it has to be done. I really appreciate you sharing. I will be trying your suggestions. THanks, susannah hansen mother to 3 yo undiagnosed ella scd 8/2/07 redoing intro 11/
