Guest guest
In my research I have read that some operations only bypass 18cm of the small bowel. I am trying to understand Why Dr. R bypasses 200cm or about 6 feet of the small bowel? It seems that this may cause more nutrient deficiencies and dumping syndrome. Guest guest
My understanding, and someone correct me if I'm wrong... Is that he bypass' more because that improves the wls. The portion bypassed is where a lot of fat and calories are normally absorbed. By bypassing this portion, wls is dramatically improved. Yes, it's true that most nutrients are also absored here also, which is why we will forever take muli vitamins. As far as dumping, goes... from my understanding if a person dumps---they normally only do it once. Again, if this isn't right, please, someone correct me.
