Guest guest
I've read posts that some of you have heart disease in addition to CP. I e-mailed my PCP a couple of weeks ago that I had a new symptom - lightheadedness - and she had me come in for a checkup. My blood pressure was low (which is normal for me) but the EKG was funky and I didn't know at the time, but it showed " left bundle branch block. " I had an echocardiogram this week that confirmed that, and wore the 24-hour monitor but haven't gotten the results yet. With my initial acute panc attack I thought I was having a heart attack - severe chest pain. Since then, I've had chest pain/pressure, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, and now faintness, but thought it was all CP related until now. BTW weight is normal, no smoking, fairly regular (light) exercise and of course low-fat diet. Any thoughts, comments, suggestions, anyone? Thanks, in Hawaii
Guest guest
I started getting the chest problems and shortness of breath also about 3 years ago. I also had a thyroid as big as a baseball. The sad thing was my PCP would have never caught that I have hypothyroidism if I didn't have the baseball in my neck. It devolped cause of the damage to my pancreas combined with my very HIGH blood sugars (I am meaning that my normal blood sugar runs between 400-800 on good days not sure why I am still here...guess my body just loves being sweet) Anyways, I have been on unithroid for a year and a half and did go to Vandy to have the radiation pill to kill the thyroid. But it has decided to come back for me again. My heart rate is off the charts so I have been on total bed rest for the last week. Have your doc check your thyroid levels and see if that is the problem. Guest guest
I hate to say it, but it sounds like me just before I had my heart attack. I too thought it was just problems with my pancreas, but I found out differently. I had a heart attack due to a large blood clot, caused by a genetic blood clotting disorder I didn't know I had. I ended up having to have a heart bypass because of the location of the clot. I certainly hope this is not the case with you , so please keep us posted on what the doctor says. Guest guest
I had left bundle branch block for over a year. It showed up after my last heart surgery. My MD did all the testing, just like you are having and then said they were just going to monitor it. Alot of times it doesn't require treatment, but sometimes people have to get pacemakers. I was lucky and didn't need treatment and mine cleared up on it's own. I also had the exact symptoms you described when I had it. I hope your tests show everything is OK. Let us know when you find out. Talk to you soon Love, w Wisconsin
Guest guest
Thank you W and Kimber for responding. I really appreciate your concern. I got a call from my doctor yesterday that the echo and Holter monitor didn't show anything further, so the LBBB is nothing to worry about. Easy for her to say! I had chest pain yesterday, but was it CP, or my heart, or just anxiety 'cause I had a dental appt? It's hard not to be hypochrondriac when there are serious things going on... But today is a good day. I wish the same for all of you. This is such a wonderfully supportive and caring group. Aloha, in Hawaii > > > I had left bundle branch block for over a year. Guest guest
I'm glad that your LBBB test came back okay. Having such chest pain and such can be very scarey. I'd still keep an eye on those chest pains and if they continue to happen, make sure your doctor knows. Let us know how things continue to do. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@...
