Guest guest
Hi Jang, As usual, well said. My Doc. doesn't require it but if he did, I would. Assuming my " bashful " bladder would allow such goings on. Best wishes, Poncho - GA
Guest guest
Hi everyone. I am an R.N. & after working closely with doctors for over 20 years, I am probably their greatest critic. I respect most doctors only slightly less than lawyers, loan sharks & pimps. That said, I have to defend the docs who are doing the drug testing - at least those who do the testing for the reason my doctor does it. We have all read plenty about doctors being arrested for drug dealing or manslaughter, usually after one of their patients dies of an overdose. (Somehow the fact that many who have OD'd have also used coccaine & alcohol not prescribed by the doctor gets overlooked.) Most of the doctors who compassionately prescribe liberal amounts of narcotics scrupulously keep detailed records defending their reasons for writing these prescriptions. The detailed documentation is the best way the doctors can protect their licenses. The drug testing is part of the documentation. I don't resent this at all. The doctor who treats my pain requires drug testing of all his patients. If I were the only one being tested, I would be angry & resentful. As it is, if my peeing in a bottle every visit helps keep my doctor out of court and in his office practicing medicine, then pee I will. The problem with docs trying to treat CP patients is that SO many people want narcs now. I have to jump through hoops just to get my avinza filled every month. My doc makes me take a drug test every time I go in to make sure I am taking the pills and not out there selling them. ************************ Date: Sat, 22 Oct 2005 19:09:07 -0700 From: " Mark E.
