Guest guest
Has anyone found anything that will shrink a swollen pancreas? I mean when it's large and uncomfortable, is there any technique or drug that will reduce it? Probably not, but just thought I'd ask. Guest guest
Hi Jerry, the only thing that I can think of off hand is an anti-inflammatory. I take a ton of aspirin but any of the other kind that you can tolerate may work. Not sure it is really helps and there are disadvantages to taking NSAIDs but, theoretically, they function to reduce swelling. Just don't know if they work for a pancreas though..... laurie
Guest guest
Hey Jerry: I don't know anything except heat and I wonder if you could rotate heat and cool just like any other part of the body? Also, be careful with the anti-inflammatories because they can make it worse. I did find out this time (as suspected) that my last major attack was caused by the OTC drug Aleve so be careful with the NSAIDs. Guest guest
Hi Jerry, Well as usual, I'm trying to play catchup with the messages and I don't have an answer for you but rather a question. How can you tell that your pancreas is swollen? Is it that palpable? Such that you can actually FEEL that it's different from other times? I mean, my belly is distended but it sort of just stays that way.... For the record also, does anyone (and I know this sounds nutzo!) think there's any truth to barometric pressure having an effect on pancreatic pain? It just seems that an inordinate amount of us seem to be having a tougher week than usual this week...the weather's changinig, the hurricane obviously changed the barometric pressure (don't know how far north and west THAT would effect...) Just thought I'd ask....hope you're feeling better today. I'm having a really rough time of it today in particular...it's just so strange that the pain has now mandated the need for a frozen, water bottle/pad vs the almost constant (1.5 yrs) of heating pad usage. This burning pain today is off the charts...the meds aren't helping a bit...thankfully, knock wood, the worst of it isn't occurring and that's that overwhelming nausea......I can't bear it when that happens. take care everyone
