Guest guest
I do accupuncture once a month and without it I would be insane. It has been really helpful for my Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction, although I was never really told that I have pancreatitis because I did not do the ERCP. But as a RN ,along with taking care of patients with pancreatitis many years ago, and by joining this group, I know that I have had pancreatic attacks at some level. The accupuncture also gives me energy, decreases my nausea and helps tremedously with my periods.. I pay $80.00 per session.. First started out at twice a week then once a week now once a month. It has been a long haul, but at least it is tolerable. I still have to take meds but no narcotics. I think I would go into a state of depression if I could not do the accupuncture. I have a female MD who is also board certified in ER medicine and is a general surgeon. She is wonderful. I think the accupuncturist has to have skill and experience. Don't think I would go to anyone that was not highly recommended. Hope this helps, Lily from Ohio Acupuncture > Anyone try acupuncture for their pancreatitis? Guest guest
Thanks Lily..and all. I am going to give it a go. The woman i went to twice before I got too ill to go back is very experienced and reputable in this area. She swears she can make me well again so it's worth a try. I haven't been diagnosed either and haven't done the ERCP either so I'm in the same boat. I definitely have attacks and suffer with this every day so...I'll start up with it soon and let you all know how it turns out. I guess you never know and I definitely am going a bit crazy with no help for this at the current time so...we'll see. Thanks again. Take care and be well. Guest guest
Hi - I will chime in my experiences with acupuncture. I have been going for five years now. I know i would have been A LOT worse with out it. After an attack, I go twice a week, for a couple of weeks, once a week a couple of weeks, once every two weeks and then wean to once a month or so when I was in a time without a flare-up. I also use the acupuncturist for going off narcotics - withdrawals are so much easier with acupuncture. they use the ears and then I can usually sleep that night after being awake for days. I agree that you need to check on the credentials of the acupuncturist. I am fortunate that mine is also a Hopkins trained MD and now does acupuncture for pain as her only practice. Her parents were acupuncturists from China. I have never had an attack from acupuncture - only positive results these past five years.
