Mark,

I wholeheartedly agree with you. I don't talk to docs as if they were better

than me either. I talk to them as an equal and expect to be treated with the

same respect. Now, I do have that southern upbringing, I say yes ma'am and no

sir, etc. Other than that, I treat them with respect, until they make me do

otherwise. I am not afraid to stand up for myself.

I did keep a pain log in the beginning and she told me that wasn't

necessary. I just think that she doesn't understand our illness enough. She is

trying

to educate herself and after speaking to my pancreas specialist, Dr. Adam's she

was totally different.

It just hurt to have my integrity questioned. I will give her another shot

and see what happens. I will also have Dr. Adam's contact her next week after

my appt. with him, that way she is on the same page that we are on and not left

in the dark.

She deals with mostly rehab patients that have been in accidents. Whether it

be work involved or car accidents, whatever. I know that I have heard her

rake some of them over the coals when I was in there about abusing meds that she

has given them.

The other thing that bothered me was that I went in to let her know I was

having to use more breakthrough meds and that my pain had increased. She just

couldn't understand why. But, I had told her the month before that it was

worsening and that it was only going to get worse until I have my beger done.

She is

just so busy, I guess that she forgot that conversation. After Dr. Adam's

confirmed exactly what I had said the attitude was changed.

He is amazing and doesn't talk down to me or treat me as a drug addict. He

makes me feel like I have a choice in my care. Maybe, once she gets used to me

she will understand our illness a little more and be more compassionate to the

next cp patient that comes along!
