Guest guest
May I chime in here. I have been diagnosed with moderate-severe Chronic pancreatitis and I have NOT been to the ER or had surgery for it for (KNOCK ON WOOD) 3 1/2 years. Pain? yes. Daily? Yes. I have felt as though a attack were pending, but never materialized, but not pain bad enough for the hospital. Before this hiatus, I had been in the hospital more than 10 times and have had surgery at least 6 times for stentings. But this string of good luck or good times or my honeymoon period....whatever ya wanna call it...has lasted a good long time. Guest guest
Hi Cindy, Some time back I wrote that same question - how long between attacks - since I'd been enjoying a long period without really bad pain. I have to agree with the person who posted that " it's just sleeping, " and when I let my guard down and ate the kinds of food that I shouldn't without immediate repercussions, it evidently accumulated. I haven't been to the ER, and only rarely had to take pain meds, but if I think CP has gone away, it always comes back. I noted with interest that you wanted to work again but were concerned about having to take time off if you have another attack. My suggestion is to try temp work. I loved it. The variety of different kinds of jobs, meeting new people, but never being stuck in a situation that might have gotten boring or dealing with office politics, etc. I signed on with a couple of different agencies and learned they all have different policies. One might penalize you if you didn't accept an assignment (were too ill that week) and another was more lenient. I took a lot of office jobs, but my favorite was hostessing at conventions. At the nicest resort hotels, I'd be passing out programs and registering attendees, helping to set up the refreshments and giving directions to the restrooms, while meeting some very interesting people, such as the Writers' Conference where I got some of my favorite books autographed. Another suggestion: if you volunteer, you can keep your skills and make your own schedule where they're very appreciative of what you can do. It looks great on a resume, too. Hope today's a better day for everyone! in Hawaii
