Guest guest
What do you send for a snack to school with your kids? My son had been eating Fritos and potato based chips. He will not eat fruit other than applesauce right now. Also, does anyone use Custom Probiotics? They have a D-Lactate Free probiotic that is recommended for kids on the spectrum. Is that SCD legal? Thanks for your help!
Guest guest
Answering your second question: We used to recommend Custom Probiotics for buying l.acidophilus, but can't anymore. Too many parents were reporting being pressured by the guy there to buy bacterial strains that were not legal on SCD. I don't know what strains are in the one you're talking about here, so I can't tell you if it's SCD legal or not. The ONLY strains that are legal to supplement with are l.acidophilus and s.boulardii. Guest guest
Hi, , I am not familiar with this product, so please list the strains. If they are these: L.Rhamnosus, L. Salivarius, B. Bifidium, B. Infantis (D-Lactate Free)- then the product is illegal. mom to -12 SCD 4/23/
Guest guest
Hi, , It would help us to know what foods your child is eating right now and how long he has been on the diet so we can suggest suitable snacks. We would like everybody to put their child's age, issues (ASD, UC, etc.), and length of time on the diet with their signature. It sure helps to have that information. :-) mom to -12 SCD 4/23/
Guest guest
My son is three and we are going to be moving from GFCF to SCD. I am trying to be as prepared as possible before the transition. I want to be ready with foods and snacks that he will eat so I am trying a few out now. He is PDD-NOS. He has apraxia(nonverbal) and sensory issues. He will eat things plain, no sauce. The only " sauce " he ate was maple syrup which is now forbidden. So solid type foods are best that he can eat with a fork or finger food. He also doesn't like foods that are anything other than room temperature. Dips are also out. (And he isn't even my pickiest eater!) Thanks! son-3yo, pdd-nos,apraxia, sensory issues Getting ready to get started on SCD! -------------- Original message -------------- Hi, , It would help us to know what foods your child is eating right now and how long he has been on the diet so we can suggest suitable snacks. Guest guest
Hi, , Early in the diet, you won't be using nuts, so you will probably have to broaden your idea of what constitutes a snack. :-) During the Intro diet you can send cooked carrot half-circles, homemade gelatin cubes, bits of chicken, bits of hamburger, chicken pancakes (recipe here: http://www.pecanbread.com/new/recipes1.html), and hard- boiled eggs. Soon after the Intro diet, you can send cooked green beans, ripe banana, Awesome Chicken Nuggets (recipe here: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/pecanbread/message/59045), Sneaky Veggie Pancakes (http://www.pecanbread.com/new/recipes1.html), banana pancakes (from BTVC). mom to -12 SCD 4/23/
