Dear MGB Family,

Cousin here...

I am not a inch measurer. I'm more of a " how are my

clothes fitting person " . I am keeping a weight chart

where I record my weight, notes about anything

significant, the amount of pounds lost since starting

this journey, the cumulative amount of pounds lost,

the number of pounds left to loose to my goal weight

and lastly the percentage I am to goal.

I created a template if anyone wants to use it at my

site: You can get it by going to

http://www.myminigastricbypass.com/WeightWorksheet.htm

This chart keeps me on top of how much I have left to

lose and the % to goal so that I can focus on more

than the number of pounds lost.

Anyway, when I started this journey, I had 232 pounds

to lose. I still can't believe I am able to say that

out loud to anyone, let alone a bunch of people. I

would have never been so candid and honest before this

surgery. I wouldn't and couldn't face that fact. I

was just too ashamed, embarressed and hopeless about

the reality of shedding 232 pounds. But not now! I

know this is a complete reality now!

Anyway, I've reached my first goal, which is to have

to lose less than 200 pounds... Now I have 198 pounds

to lose, I've lost 14.22% of the weight I want to

lose. Translated, I have lost 34 pounds in 7 weeks

(which is 4.85 pounds a week averaged out).

I am doing great! No complications to speak of. I can

eat anything (but not everything) if you know what I

mean. I am walking 2-3x a week, but I am going to

start some form of aggressive exercise that causes me

to break a sweat. Probably some video aerobics. I

know I need to really do this, it's just getting

started! Somebody in this family can relate I'm sure.

Nevertheless, this first 7 weeks has been wonderful!

Sincerely hoping to reach my goal,

What the MGB has done for me:

Hope is the whole-hearted belief that something GREAT

is going to happen. It is the joyful anticipation of

a fulfilled end in your favor. Hope is a close cousin

to faith. I think that the best thing that the MGB

has done for me is given me hope to overcome the

trappings of obesity. I will forever be grateful for

Dr. Rutledge for his role in giving me hope in this

area of my life. God Bless You Dr. R!
