Guest guest
You have to stop drinking all alcohol entirely. That includes Niquil, mouthwashes and other OTC meds that contain alcohol. I dont know why some people have a pancreas more succeptible to the affects of alcohol then other. I was told at one time there was a study going on someplace to figure that one out. I have a brother who is pushing 60 or so. He is a Viet Nam vet and had been an alcoholic, IV drug abuser and any drug for that matter since the mid 60's. He does not have pancreas problems at all. He does have significant cirhosis and profound alcohol induced encephelpothy (sp?) ad well as hep C. I have not spoken to him in years but have heard he has been sober for a couple of years. Joined AA and has gotten several chips. Good for him, but way too late. I drank. Never when I was pregnant or breast feeding ~ 6 years, rarely when I was in college, both times. Socially most of my life. There was a 10 month span of time where I did drink too much and that may very well what had pushed my panc over the edge. It has been determined that I have had cp since childhood. As soon as I was diagnosed I stopped drinking entirely. You have to stop drinking , no ifs ands or buts. Good luck with the surgery on tuesday. I will keep you in my prayers. I had my spleen removed last November when my pancreas was removed and have had no problems with the splenectomy. Please let us know how you are doing after your surgery as soon as you can. Is there somebody who can post for you? Goodluck and know you are in my prayers. Guest guest
I have and don't take any elixers. I just can't stomach them. Tooth paste, not mouth washes. this is a big hurdle in my life and more so worried about the surg. i am sure i will be fine. i see my surgeon tomorrow and am going to ask questions about it. am also going to discuss how much the pancreas has been effected and what are the possibilities of removal and the complications. I have a lot on my plate today besides surg. also lots of stress with 5 teens in the house and wife. also being out of work and no income. had to tap into my 401k for assistance. am dealing with alot right now. i will be in the hospital for about a week and 2-3 at home. will get back on line as soon as i can. no one has access to my email account except me. Thanks for the input wrote: You have to stop drinking all alcohol entirely. That includes Niquil, mouthwashes and other OTC meds that contain alcohol.
