Guest guest
Hi everyone, Been reading alot of posts regarding doctors responses and alcohol, When I was admitted to hospital earlier this year with an acute attack, I was set upon by two doctors and a consultant who imediately assumed I was an alcoholic who must have consumed at least two bottles of vodka a day to have pancreatitis, As the majority of cases do involve alcohol consumption/misuse, They become conditioned in this thought path unfortunate so it may be. What is harder, is to get any informed information from them apart from the usual platitudes and a reasuring? smile, When they let me free, I visited my GP who again confronted me about alcohol consumption, By then i'd spent a few days surfing the net getting any information I could about the condition, And thankfully found you guys, So I was pretty much clued up by then And a few snappy well informed answers soon had things on an even keel with my doctor, Think what im saying is knowledge is power and you have to take control of the situation, After all its your body and mind there dealing with, What I know now worries me, His parting words were " Have a few beers, But don't go mad!!! " Not you may have a predisposition to develop CP so I'd avoid it on all counts would have perhaps been more sensible, I read Jim's post earlier, After seven years abstention, Then getting CP ,Illustrates that you just never know what's gonna happen with the silent organ, Wonderful thing! Basically doctors don't know everything, And the quicker they can get you out of the door the better, if you read this, All the stress of worrying what the quack says will make you even more ill, Hope surgery goes well by the way. So we all know what we have to do as far as lifestyle is concerned,(Even though i'm paying the price heavily for stupidly eating curry earlier this evening, Grumble!) So my advice would be, Take all the waffle with a pinch of salt, Thats if you can tolerate it? And if its any consolation, Ive read, By profession Doctors are the worst drinkers of them all, Outrageous slur, How dare I? As for stopping smoking, Anyone got a system, Ive tried, Oh ive tried! Hope everyone is as well as can be, Pete.
