Hi,

My son is on his second day of the Intro diet.

I have several questions that I couldn't find answers to in BTVC so

I've come here for help. I was wondering when he would be able to

have spices, herbs, condiments (ketchup, mayonnaise, etc), and

orange juice added to his diet? I know that it will be awhile

before he gets to that point in the diet but I just wanted to find

out so I know when I would be able to try them.

How long should I wait after introducing a new food before I can add

another one?

My son is 4 years old and has had gut issues for about a year or

so. I think alot of his problems stem from yeast. He currently

takes Diflucan which his allergist prescribed.

He's not autistic but has sensory processing disorder along with a

few other things. He does not have problems with diarrhea or

anything like that.

Oh, before I forget, can someone email a pear pancake recipe to me?

My son only eats pancakes for breakfast and I wanted to make the

pear pancakes for him tomorrow. We tried the chicken pancakes and

they did not go over very well.

Thanks for your help! I'm sure you'll be hearing from me often!

Hi, Judy,

You can try the spices, condiments, and OJ one at a time right after

the intro. You need to use single spices only, Tropicana Original OJ

diluted 50% or more with water, and homemade ketchup. You might want

to try some of the ketchup ingredients singly first, because if he

reacts to ketchup, you won't know if the problem is vinegar, tomato or

whatever.

It's best to add one new thing every 2-4 days so you have time to

watch for reactions. Start with small amounts, then increase.

gave you some good suggestions, but the other

half of the diet is found on the Pecanbread web site.

They have an extensive list of foods and how they

should be introduced in stages, and there are also

good recipes for mayo and ketchup. Mayo can be

introduced pretty soon since it's just oil and eggs,

and there is a " cooked " recipe on the site:

As far as spices go, McCormick single spices should be

OK (no blends, and no powdered or minced garlic or

onion). I cook everything with chopped up onions and

whole garlic cloves, but they cannot be eaten until

much later so at this stage you just toss them out at

the end.

I know the book and web site say 2-4 days but my

doctor said I should do everything 4 days apart.

Making the goat's milk yogurt on the web site can help

with gut healing down the road. I know yeast is a

problem with many people when starting the diet, so

you will probably get better advice from others.
