Guest guest
Margaret, Please stick around, I don't find you grouchy at all!! Thanks for the info on Peptamen. I wanted to add that it's also given to patients who suffer from malabsorption. My GI prescribed it for me when I had lost so much weight and couldn't seem to gain.....so I had to buy a case of it because that's the only way the pharmacy would supply it. $149 mistake. Unfortunately, I just couldn't tolerate the taste of it, and had a bad flare after drinking it, so I gave up and had 3/4 of a case of it sitting on the porch until it expired. Couldn't even give it away. Given through a tube it might have been great, but since I was still walking around, (more like the walking dead), he didn't think of tube feeding! Did you use the vanilla flavored variety or the unflavored? Hats off to you that you are able to drink it raw! With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Guest guest
I'm so sorry you got stuck with a case of that expensive stuff, thank goodness my dietician had some samples for me to try to start with to see if I could tolerate it. I did both the vanilla, and the plain mixed with the flavor packets. The flavor packets really help. And the fact that I have some loss of sense of taste/smell due to the Sjogrens- LOL! I know that walking dead feeling. Last year this time I could not even walk across Walmart at one point and got stuck in the middle of the store. Ended up sitting on the floor till someone could get the wheelchair and come get me. I just had no energy at all. Ended up using the wheelchair for a while in there...
