Guest guest
When past the intro diet, and want to fry foods and it says butter- what brands is this-- cocotul oil used as butter? or spectrum or omega spreads? are these legal to fry in? is olive oil ok? I am afarid to use corn or safflower as want to add in all nuts down the road when i know all is safe... Apples and bananas and pears and welchs grape juice for the gelatin mix seem to feed yeast from my knowledge of GF/Cf--are these ok if cooked and do you add one at a time to see if there is a reaction? What brand of gelatin mix is legal- Knoxx? Tomotoes-- my son must have home made ketchup -- when can i add this in? can i jump this one to stage one and just watch for reactions? Vinegar-- does this need to be distilled vinegar? apple cider vinegar? is white or red better? Saccharin- is this sweet and low- how much and how soon can that be added to lemon juice to make sweet tasting drinks? thank you for your help and insights.. Coconut oil or Ghee, no marg Olive oil Knoxx, yes any vinegar, saccharin, lemon can be introd one at a time after intro diet Not sure about tomatos, not enough experience butI think so. Some people later try to weed out the juice and bananas but right now he needs them for calories and carbs.
Guest guest
For frying, you should look for an oil that can be used at high temperatures; olive oil is not one of them. You may use ghee and Spectrum Palm Shortening. Coconut oil is good for medium high heat. Do not use soy oil. Do not use margarine. I am surprised about the pears. Actually on SCD we tackle yeast by eliminating starches and sugars, but we allow the fruit and the honey. This works for most people. But if you still have a severe problem, you can try reducing honey in recipes to 1/3 of what is called for. You should not eliminate fruit because you need its nutrition. A few still do, but please see if getting rid of the starches, etc. works for you first. You do not need to cook banana, but it must be ripe (plenty of spots). You do not need to cook the Welches grape juice, but you need to dilute it 50% with water. The apples and pears need to be peeled, cooked and seeded and you do need to add foods one at a time, starting with small amounts, and watch for reactions over the course of a few days. Knox can be used. There are also store brands of plain gelatin (no sugar, no flavors). Distilled white vinegar, apple cider vinegar, and red wine vinegar are all legal. Balsamic vinegar is not legal. You want pure saccharin if possible, but it may be hard to find. There is a brand called Hermesetas that you might be able to order online. A brand that some have found called NectaSweet is ok. Sweet 'n Low liquid is preferable to the granules, but if you can't find it, then you can use the granules. Read here: http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/knowledge_base/kb/saccharine.htm You might want to try some of the individual ingredients of the ketchup before introducing them all mixed up together. If it's important for your child to get ketchup as soon as possible, be sure to try it in very small amounts first and watch for reactions. Increase amounts gradually. mom to -12 SCD 4/23/
Guest guest
thank you so much!!! My son has been off all fruit as i have been afraid of too much sugar..i will cook and add one in at time to see if any reactions. he loves the winter squash but that also has a lot of carbs/sugar from what i read-- or are these the same time that will not cause yeast-- do you need to limit fruit and carbs overall-- i am soooo afraid of yeast flare from the sugar but we will see...he is now off all other sugars and starches so this may be a good replacement ...it is hard to believe that all we have been told about sugar and yeast that this will work and still prevent yeast??does anyone have any encouraging stories from kids with yeast issues and this fruit and squash not causing flared? thank you again! julie46250 wrote: For frying, you should look for an oil that can be used at high temperatures; olive oil is not one of them. Guest guest
Hi, Ann, The squash should not cause yeast for most people. You do not need to limit fruit and carbs overall, but you do need a nice balance. No one should be eating only fruit! Juice can be overdone, so be sure to dilute it at least 50% with water. Many of us dilute it even more. Encourage your child to drink plain water, too. mom to -12 SCD 4/23/
