Guest guest
To whomever wrote that many Chronic Pancreatis people only live for 7 years: Hello, my name is Anyse. According to your information, I have been dead now for 4 years. So, from my slowly crumbling ashes (I would have been cremated), I just thought that the only real side effect of pancreatitis for me these past four years have been chronic pain, intense and long-term nausea (the nausea is better in the past week and the pain in the past 4 weeks due to medication changes), I am bedridden (as are a few others here), I have to be careful about what I eat, and (THIS IS THE WORST PART) I have to keep brushing my ashes off of my keyboard every time I use it and am slowly losing some of my overall ashen mass!!! So, in a simple word about a 7 year life span, fuhgetaboutit!!! LOL Anyse, CP for 11 years now.
Guest guest
Whoever told you about the life span for cp could not be further than the truth. I've been suffering from this condition for twenty-five years now and the doctor doe's not seemed worried that I am going to die any day soon Sincerely, Janet

Guest guest
I've had symptoms since 1972. Its cool being able to post from beyond the grave!Sometimes death seemed like a good idea (when I was not properly medicated)but only in theory.... Guest guest
--- In pancreatitis , " Margaret " <jgardner11@g...> One study I read said that 50% of people with CP who drank alcohol regulary died within 5 years. I think we all know alcohol is like poison to us.
Guest guest
> One study I read said that 50% of people with CP who drank alcohol regulary died within 5 years.< If they're going by those statistics, then I could understand the 7 year life span. Anyone with CP who continues to drink is at maximum risk of death within a short time frame. I believe we all know that! It seems that the statistic takers are only looking at those people, not the ones with heriditary CP, or others who have CP by " other causes " . I've heard of too many people who have had it since childhood, or for 35 years, or 20 or 16! And as I approach my 5th year since diagnosis, knowing that I probably had CP several months or a year before it was diagnosed, there's no way I could believe that there's only a year left for me.....I plan to be around long enough to see all my grandkids in college, at least, and some of them aren't even born yet! Let's not let some statistic get in the way of your own progress and goals for your life. I think that statistic is skewed and doesn't represent the whole, and shouldn't be of concern for any of us. Unless a person is taking their life in their hands by continuing to drink when they have CP, the 7 year life span is meaningless to the rest. My 2 cents. With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H.
