Guest guest
Hi, I'm new here. My 19 yr. old son has pancreatitis due to cystic fibrosis. Does anyone take antioxidants? If so, which ones? Anyone do yoga, massage or other alternative therapies? Thanks, Marjorie
Guest guest
HI Marjorie a lot of us here take antioxident vitamins and mineral supplements. I have a list of what I took/take in the file section under " nutrition " and then I think it says Vitamins and minerals or soemthing along that line. My list is a little longer then most but I feel cvery strongly that I had not taken those I would not have done as well. Heidi has a very good list somewhere also but I am not sure where it is file. Her's is very similiar to mine but a little shorter. Please read the note, you have to scroll right to left to get the full information. Vitamins should not be taken with milk and if one is on enzymes then they should be taken with them as well. It is better to take them with a little food as it can sometimes cause a little stomach upset. Also always alwasy take Vitimain C with Iron it increase the iron absorbtion on ones body. I hope this helps your son. Warmly, (SC)
Guest guest
Marjorie, For the last four and a half years I've been taking the antioxidants recommended by the Manchester Royal Infirmary research studies. Daily consumption of these antioxidants was proven helpful in reducing pain and hospitalizations from chronic pancreatitis. I've only been hospitalized once for a pancreatitis attack in this time frame, so I do believe that they have been helpful for me. * 600 mcg selenium * 9000 IU beta-carotene * 0.54 grams vitamin C * 270 IU vitamin E * 2 grams methionine Additionally, I take grapeseed extract, magnesium, B1, B6, B12 and 400 mg folic acid. I take other antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and herbs to help maintain good blood glucose control for my type 1 diabetes, some of which are the same as those which help the chronic pancreatitis. Guest guest
I take them and have felt a difference. My energy levels have also increased with them. I also get massage, Reiki and am looking for a good acupuncturist right now, which I am told helps a lot. Eileen in NJ

I live near Nyack and have a friend who is referring me to an accupuncturist. If that's near you and the person is good, I can pass along the name. If you live in Northern NJ, do you work with a doctor you like? Thanks again, Marjorie >
