Guest guest
Eileen, PLEASE don't be so terrified. I have had MANY ERCp's as many others here have had, and the worst I have gotten is a 10 day hopsital stay. Depending on what the doctor does will determine if you will have an acute attack and if so, how bad it will be. 1 acute attack does not necessarily turn into a chronic condition. The ERCp is a great diagnostic tool to be completly sure of what is going on inside. I have been to several univercities and had them and have the pictures from the surgery dictating changes in the pancreas and calcification of the pancreas. Also severe strictures in the head of the pancreas. All of this was seen by surgical methods ONLY. The last CTScan I had showed absolutly nothing wrong with the pancreas! We know thats not true as we have pictures that there is definatly something wrong. A CTScan is not a definative answer in diagnosising pancreatic disorders. Please, don't be so apprehensive about this. If you do end up having a small attack, it doesn't mean you will have it for life. And if there is something wrong with your pancreas that isn't showing up in other tests, better to know that now and not wait 2 years like they did with me and now I am in a chronic state. Try and have a worry free weekend. It all works out the way it is supposed to in the end. I am trying to remeber that too. Sandy in CA -------------- Original message -------------- Hi Sandy! I guess that is what I am afriad of. An acute attack that can be damaging. I have read of people getting them so bad kidneys shut down, etc. He said it's a small chance that would happen and since he doesn't think it's my pancreas causing my pain, it won't happen. I'm not sio sure. I'm terrified! Eileen
Guest guest
Eileen; I agree with Sandy: please don't get yourself worked up and worried. Please, just control what you can (diet & exercise) and let the doctors do their thing. The more you fight it, both physically and emotionally, the rougher it will be. If you are hospitalized.... enjoy the pain meds and get your family to bring you your own pillows and sheets and towels, and things which you are used to at home. Take care & accept help from the family, Dick & Alan P.S. I have been hospitalized for pancreatitis 4 times. All you can do is make your stay in hpospital as comfortable as you can. > > Eileen, > > PLEASE don't be so terrified. Guest guest
Thanmk you Sandy. You have no idea how much I appreciated this post. I had my boyfriend read it too. Your right, if there is something going on (other tests are showing nothing) this is the only way. I pray that I won't have an attack! I also pray that I won't wake up in the middle of it like some have! *hugs* Eileen in NJ > > Eileen, > > PLEASE don't be so terrified. Guest guest
Dick, sounds like a plan. I think the worst thing about being hospitalized is not having the comforts of home. Part of the worry is hearing that some developed CP from a AP, or the AP was so bad it shut down organs. Thank you Eileen > > > > Eileen, > > > > PLEASE don't be so terrified.
