Guest guest
Hello all, (particularly any newbies) welcome and good luck on your journey. As a quick note, you will probably not need a mammogram if you are under 35 as they normally want a baseline between 35 and 40. I am 34 and it was not required. As for hotels...I highly suggest the Hawthorn Suites although they do not have a pool. It is only $55 with the medical rate and was really nice. Having two rooms and an actual living room was really great. It is close to a grocery, lots of places to eat, a nail place (yep got my nails done) and a Kinkos which has computers. You would need a car though to get you to the hospital and clinic and other attractions. Also I have seen questions about driving...my mom and I drove to NC from Indianapolis and I did help with the driving on the way home. I had to take care of the mountains because my mom is a wimp (hi mom) and I did not really have a problem. I wore my TED hose and really just found that I could not get comfortable. However, I think that is due more to my mom's car than anything else. Be careful and be safe, we are all different. Finally, as a note, I have tried several new things although I am still mostly on liquids, and all seem to go down well. Mashed potatoes were great as were mashed sweet potatoes (both from Boston Market) and today I tried a little scrambled egg. Hello to my littermates, I hope you are doing well! By the way....inches and inches of snow in Chicago and it is STILL coming down. Flights cancelled, school letting out early, horrible conditions. Enjoy that mild NC weather while you can.
