Hey - I am just joining the group... I am almost 21 years old and was

diagnosed w/ CP right before my 18th birthday. Is there anyone out

there that is young and can give advice on a few things? Right now my

biggest worry is birth control... does anyone have any advice? I'm

getting married in 18 months and just trying to figure out what the

best step would be. Anyone that was diagnosed at a young age please

contact me. I would love to hear from anyone though. Well, I have to

go finish my homework... UIUC never stops calling me to do

homework.... only 1 1/2 years left! YEAH! have a great night

everyone!

Hi,

And welcome. I am not young but I am on the Depot shot and have been for 5

years. Hope that helps with your birth control question.

Mirina is my favorite right now (no period! Yay!I don't even have a

sex life-got it to stop my cramps and flooding....works perfectly)

http://www.mirena-us.com/index.html

Its not systemic and does not contain estrogen. The minipill is

another non-estrogen option. Estrogens have been associated with

pancreatitis in the past, check with your doc on this. Then there is

the cervical cap or diaphragm, no horomones at all with those. Female

condom, male condom....lots of non-estrogen options. Depends on your

tolerance for for messing with accessories.

Hi Kate,

My daughter is 23 and started having pancreatitis attacks in March of

this year. No one has said " chronic " yet and her doctors are still

discussing options for treatment (this has been so emotionally

difficult!). But to your question..she takes the Deprovera shot every

3 months. Congratulations on your upcoming marriage!

ktgrace06,

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage! I am twenty-four and graduating

from ISU in December. I am lucky to be here. I started having recurring

acute pancreattis attacks when I was eight. When I was eighteen I was

diagnosed with chronic pancreatits. I have to go now, but I will try to

e-mail you later.
